Ha Long Bay, also known as the “Bays of Descending Dragons,” is like Mother Nature’s masterpiece in Vietnam. Imagine being surrounded by thousands of tall limestone hills, all covered in lush greenery. Each of these rocks has its own unique shape – some look like dragons, others like mythical creatures. It’s no wonder this place is famous worldwide and is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Our Ride
Our adventure started with Peony Cruise, and let me tell you, it was a great choice. These boats had everything we needed for a fantastic time – big decks to soak up the sun and enjoy stunning views, cozy dining areas for delicious seafood, and even bars where we could sip cocktails under the night sky.
We splurged a bit and got Premium Cabins on the 2nd floor of Peony Cruise (cost us about $185 per person, and that included a ride from Hanoi in fancy shared limousine vans). These cabins were designed for comfort and style. They had these big balconies with two comfy chairs where we could enjoy panoramic views of the bay. The cabins had a touch of Vietnamese charm in their decor, which made them feel really special.
Highlighted Places
Da Chong Islets: We started with a visit to Da Chong Islets, home to old French lighthouses. They’re cool reminders of the bay’s history and great spots for cool photos.
Con Vit Islets: While we had lunch on Peony Cruise (they served up International Buffet Lunches), we passed by the Con Vit Islets. These limestone formations jut out of the sea like something out of a fairy tale.
Ao Ech Area: We got to do some kayaking in the Ao Ech area, exploring hidden spots in Lan Ha Bay. It was so quiet and peaceful – perfect for folks who love kayaking.
Tra Bau for Swimming: After that, we headed to Tra Bau, a less crowded spot in Lan Ha Bay. We got to take a dip in the clear waters, surrounded by untouched nature.
Magical Sunsets
Sunsets in Ha Long Bay are like something out of a dream. As the sun goes down, the limestone hills light up with a golden glow. The colors reflecting on the water make it perfect for photos or romantic moments with your special someone.
Delicious Food
Now, let’s talk about the food. Dining on board Peony Cruise was a real treat. They served up fresh seafood straight from the bay and all sorts of tasty Vietnamese dishes. Eating on the deck with the bay all around us made it even more special.
Starry Nights
At night, Ha Long Bay turns into stargazers’ paradise. With no city lights to spoil the view, the sky is filled with stars. We spent hours just looking up from the boat – it was incredibly peaceful and romantic.
Unique Experiences – Spending nights on a boat
Spending nights on a boat in Ha Long Bay is like no other experience. The gentle rocking of the boats and the sounds of the bay make for a great night’s sleep.
Mesmerizing Sunrise: A Golden Beginning to Serenity
Imagine the beauty of a sunrise in Ha Long Bay, where the sun turns the limestone hills golden and the water mirrors the magical colors. It’s a breathtaking start to the day, making every moment special.
More Fun and Goodbyes
The next day started with 30 min Tai Chi on the sundecks – cool ways to wake up surrounded by nature. Then, hearty breakfasts prepared us for more adventures.
We explored Trung Trang Cave on Cat Ba Island, and let me tell you, it’s like Mother Nature’s art gallery. Stalactites in all shapes and sizes – it’s like being in different worlds.
As we cruised back, brunches were served. We soaked in the last views of Ha Long Bay before saying our goodbyes.
